Who would benefit?

For reflective supervision in education services and schools e.g. senior leaders, safeguarding leads, Class teachers, SENCOs, Early career teachers, Educators in specialist provision and those working in pastoral roles. Reflective supervision in schools supports wellbeing, as well as personal and professional development.

I have experience of providing supervision for colleagues in Educational Psychology at the individual and group level and am a registered associate supervisor for PTUK providing supervision for play therapists for more than 10 years now. I also provide monthly supervision for education professionals including Senior Leaders, SENDCos as well as teaching and support staff.

Supervision in schools is by no means standard, but there is a growing recognition of its benefits. The pressure and demands on school staff has steadily increased over recent years and is compounded by a lack of resources and training to support the change in demand. This imbalance can take an emotional toll on school professionals. Feelings of frustration as well as elevated levels of stress are increasing.

‘Practitioners who are well supported, receive supervision and have access to training are more likely to think clearly and exercise professional discretion.’ (Brandon et al, 2005)

“I’m so grateful to have supervision with Helen, her supportive and caring nature made it easy for me to open up and discuss the challenges I was facing. Through our sessions I have grown in confidence, particularly with my leadership style, and Helen’s guidance has also helped me to better support my team through challenges and change. I cannot thank her enough for the positive impact she has had on me and my team!”
